BRIGHTON COLLEGE BANGKOK CELEBRATES RECORD RESULTS
Brighton College Bangkok is once again celebrating outstanding A Level results with well over 90% of all grades awarded at A*- B. In many subjects, including Art, Biology, English Literature, Geography, Music, Physics and Design Technology, every grade awarded was at A* or A. The achievement is all the more remarkable as this is the first year since 2019 that full examinations took place.
Overall, every one of the school’s Year 13 pupils achieved at least one A grade or more. These excellent results accurately reflect the school’s strengths across a wide range of subjects, and sees the school’s departing Year 13 pupils are moving on to study an array of university courses at many of the world’s leading institutions.
Of the many individual success stories, Yunus achieved three A grades and leaves to read Public Policy in Hong Kong whilst Dharma also achieved three A grades and will read Media and Communication at Loughborough University. Gem gained two A* grades and an A and will study Biomedical Sciences at University of Reading. Pear received three A grades and is choosing whether to study Medicine at Thammasat or Chulalongkorn here in Thailand or Biomedical Engineering at King's College, London. Perth, who also gained three A grades, will study Computer Science at Mahidol University.
This year also sees some notable firsts for the school, with Charlotte becoming the first pupil to take up a place to read music at one of the UK’s top Conservatoires whilst Dian goes on to study Animation Production at the Art Center College of Design, California. Continuing the theme from last year, our pupils gained scores of offers from the UK’s prestigious Russell Group universities and five pupils will attend one of these institutions from September.
The results confirm Brighton College Bangkok’s status as one of the leading schools in the region. Its small class sizes, excellent teaching and pastoral support have once again led to some of the best results in the world.
Remarking on this year’s A Level success at the school, Head Master, Nick Gallop said: ‘These excellent results accurately reflect the hard work and commitment of the pupils and inspirational support of the teachers. It is not just the academic success that stands out, these young people have been super role models to the younger pupils and we wish them every success as they move on to their chosen universities around the world.’
Mrs. Carly Barber, Head of Senior school commented: ‘We are once again very proud of the efforts of both the pupils and the staff that supported them to achieve these fantastic results. Exam results are a small part of the kind, enthusiastic, future ready, responsive young people we have seen develop over their years here at Brighton. However, they are essential to gain entry to their first choice in terms of their next steps. We wish them the very best of luck in their future journey and know they will serve as an inspiration for the younger years, who are all proud to be Brighton.
Remarking on the A Level results, Head of Sixth Form, Dale Whitehead said: “I am thrilled with these outstanding results, they are a testament to the hard work and dedication of this wonderful group of pupils. The past two years have been incredible in so many ways and throughout it all, these young people have demonstrated fortitude and tenacity to get the grades that they so richly deserve. I wish the pupils the very best of luck for the future and congratulate them on this special day. I could not be more proud of them and their fantastic results.”
For IGCSE, 90% of grades were A*-B, 9-6, with 48% of grades at A*.
Individuals worth a very special mention are Sanya, Preme and Khanin, who achieved A* grades across the board in all 10 of the subjects they undertook. It was particularly pleasing to note that 88% of all Maths, and Sciences were awarded grade A or A*.
These results mirror the success across the Brighton College family of schools; with Brighton College in the UK, retaining its status as England’s number one co-educational school. The Times have listed Brighton College as the top school in England based on their exam results.
Remarking on the IGCSE examination results, Louisa Angus, Deputy Head of Senior School and section leader for Years 7 to 11, said: “Our Year 11 pupils have impressed us time and time again with their tenacity and resilience, and they really do deserve the excellent results they have achieved today. We look forward to welcoming them back in the new year.”
