Referring to the announcement from Department of Health Service Support, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand on October 5, 2021; AHQ was going to be started on October 8, 2021.
Under the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situations B.E. 2548 (2005), non-Thai nationals in need of medical treatment in Thailand, except for Treatment of Covid-19, including their accompanying persons (not exceeding 3 persons) could apply for AHQ. Clients can contact the Royal Thai Embassy at their local residency to request Certificate of Entry by submitting Confirmation Letter from hospital in Thailand.
Samitivej Hospital is able to provide the Confirmation Letter to accept your patient under our care. Therefore; please provide us with the following document for further management.
The most updated medical information/ reports for our specialist to review. Based on your provided medical information/ reports, our hospital will issue Confirmation Letter to accept your patient under our care, which you will need to submit to Royal Thai Embassy at your local residence for requested for certificate of entry (COE).
- Copy of your patient passport of clients as we will need the details to be included in the letter from the hospital.
- Copy of passport for all patient’s accompanying (not exceeding 3 persons) and state their relationship to the patient.
- Please fill out Affidavit of Support for patient's companion with signature and revert back to us once completed, and we will submit to MOPH in Thailand as part of patient's application submission.
Once the MOPH stamped and approved, we will send you with the approved Confirmation letter for you to submit it to Thai Embassy at your local residence.
Please be reminded that upon arrival to Bangkok, patient will be transferred and admitted to Samitivej Hospital into isolation ward. Only a travel companion can stay into a same room as patient (except ICU; Intensive Care Unit). In case there are more than one travel companion; a single room for quarantine is going to be arranged for each companion under guideline of Covid-19 of Ministry of Public Health of Thailand. Quarantine expenses for all of your travel companion will be at your full financial responsibility unless they are entitled for coverage from Insurance.

Updated regulations on Quarantine period, effective from 1 October 2021 onwards:
No less than 7 days for travellers with vaccine certificate with the following conditions.
Travelers vaccinated with the list of vaccine approved by the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand as follows: (as of 22 September 2021)
Travelers must be fully vaccinated for more than 14 days before the traveling date.
Travelers must present the vaccine certificate (either the original or a printed copy) at the port of arrival. The quarantine period will be determined by the Health Control officers upon arriving into Thailand.
No less than 10 days for travellers without vaccine certificate (or did not received a full dose of vaccination) who are travelling into the country by air and sea. The quarantine period will be determined by the Health Control officers upon arriving into Thailand.
No less than 14 days for travellers without vaccine certificate (or did not received a full dose of vaccination) who are travelling into the country by land.
A cost of Alternative Hospital Quarantine (AHQ) at Samitivej Hospitals are as follows:
For 7 days quarantine
For 10 days quarantine
For 14 days quarantine
Remark: *Cost of AHQ including Room services, 3 meals per day, Temperature monitoring 2 times per day, and Covid-19 test 2 courses during quarantine periods.
Protocol for Quarantine at Hospitals:
Remark: *Upon arrival full payment for the quarantine cost or guarantee letter from contracted Insurance are required. The hospital quarantine cost does not include medical treatment expenses, investigation test, and doctor’s fee. Smoking and drinking are strongly prohibited in the quarantine room.
