“Thailand’s Ageing Society: Legal Issues and Practical Challenges”

The event is a joint event with Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce (TICC) and will consider the social and economic issues associated with Thailand’s ageing population, and how other countries are coping with issues arising. and the implications for future expansion and investment in this sector. Our guest speakers at this event will be:

  • Paul Crosio, who is a Partner at Silk Legal, an established law firm in Thailand with practice areas encompassing health, wellness, aged care and alternative medicine, amongst others. Silk Legal has offices in Bangkok, Phuket, Dubai and New York serving both local and foreign clients in these markets.
  • Tim Lertsmitivanta is the Chief Executive Officer of Thonburi Wellbeing, managing Thonburi Healthcare Group’s aging, wellness and related sector developments. THG is a publicly listed Thai medical services and healthcare solutions provider.

Our two distinguished experts will discuss Thailand’s current rapidly aging population, its social and other consequences, and examine the challenges for retirement living in Thailand by both Thais and non-Thais.

Paul will discuss issues concerning retirement visas, housing and leases, and refer to other areas such as powers of attorney and wills.  

Tim will consider the practical living and medical needs of retirees. He will explain THG’s experience in this area and projects launched under Jin Wellbeing (https://www.jinwellbeing.com/).  THG has developed a model healthcare mixed-use project combining integrated healthcare and medical support, with active retirement living, designed especially for the elderly, and those undergoing long term rehabilitation, for example after surgery.

The event will also examine Board of Investment incentives in healthcare and how these can encourage investment in the sector.

Cost: THB 1,100 for BCCT/TICC members and THB 2,200 for non-members. This price includes food, free-flow beer, wine and soft drinks.

Cancellation policy:

  • Advance payment is required to confirm your registration and if payment not made 24 hours before event, your place will be passed on to the waiting list. No walk-ins.
  • Cancellations received less than 24 hours (1 day) and no-shows are NOT able to receive neither a refund nor credit.
  • Payment is required at the time of booking. At any other time will incur a higher fee
