A.P. Moller – Maersk operates in more than 130 countries with around 100,000 employees of all nationalities. A.P. Moller - Maersk established shipping services in Thailand in 1951. Over the years the Maersk activities in Thailand have grown and developed. Today Maersk have more than 2,100 employees in Thailand and activities in terminals/seaports, logistics and services and shipping. Port Terminals The main terminal activities are the LCB1 Group which consists of LCB Container Terminal 1 Ltd (Incorporated in 1995). and LCMT Company Ltd (Subsidiary of LCB1 since 2006). In partnership with Thai partners and more, here we operate 3 berths handling around 1.7 million containers (TEU) every year. Shipping Maersk call several ports in Thailand, including Laem Chabang, Bangkok PAT and Songkhla with 590 port calls in year 2024 (around 11 calls per week). This amounts to 885k TEU total loaded and discharge volume in Thailand for year 2024*, which around 10% of the containerised trade going out of Thailand, and 8% going into Thailand. Logistics and Services Maersk operate 6 warehouses in Thailand with a total capacity of close to 240,000 sqm as well as 29 distribution centres to service Thai business. As part of the logistics activities Maersk also is committed to further develop Suvarnabhumi airport (BKK) as an important Air Gateway Hub for Maersk. As an integrated part of our vision of becoming the global logistics integrator of choice, we have made a commitment to reduce our climate footprint and transition to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our entire operations by 2040. As such we invest in green solutions for our vessels and airplanes, electricity for our terminals, warehouses, and vehicles. In Thailand. As part of our 2025 ambition, we are dedicated to expanding our sustainable practices and integrating renewable energy solutions across all operations to align with our area commitment roadmap and the Global decarbonization net zero target by 2040. Maersk Mekong, and specifically Thailand, is focused on rigorous monitoring of GHG emissions across Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 categories using our advanced dashboard. We actively participate in and maintain Leaf certification under the GFA Leaf Label program to validate our commitment to reducing GHG emissions in transportation. To advance our logistics initiatives, Maersk is expanding its fleet of electric vehicles (EVs), and providing ECO Driving Training for drivers in Thailand, bolstering decarbonized road freight solutions. Additionally, Maersk is transitioning its warehouses to renewable electricity sources, further strengthening our commitment to decarbonizing operations. Our ambition is to offer customers a whole new digitized end-to-end experience that offers comprehensive visibility, recommendations and actions to optimize their end-to-end supply chains. | |
