On 31st August, the Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Khun Thapanee Kiatphaibool, graciously presided over the opening ceremony of Bangkok Patana School's new covered tennis courts.

The event was further honoured by the presence of the Governor of Bangkok, Khun Chadchart Sittipunt, who came to tour the facility. He was warmly welcomed by Khun Kulvadee Siribhadra, Director of the Foundation Board Office.

Bangkok Patana School is a British international school with a history spanning nearly 70 years and operates as a non-profit organisation. Currently, the school has over 2,300 students from more than 60 nationalities. The school has developed eight new indoor tennis courts, certified by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), with the aim of providing students with an enjoyable learning experience in tennis, both for recreation and competitive play, both locally and internationally.

“Everything we do at Bangkok Patana School is focused towards letting our students enjoy their learning; when they enjoy, they excel,” said Chris Sammons, Head of School. A further investment in this comes with the School’s eight new tennis courts, which have received ITF (International Tennis Federation) certification. “Whether they are enjoying recreational tennis or striving to competitive levels, we want to offer our students stellar experiences,” said Mr Sammons.

The ITF certification is a significant source of pride for the school, making Bangkok Patana the first school in Thailand to receive such recognition. The certification was granted based on the following outstanding features of the courts:

- High-quality court surfaces identical to those used in the US Open
- Standard-compliant slope and evenness of the courts
- Spacious areas between and around the courts
- Shaded roofing with a higher-than-standard ceiling for optimal ventilation
- Lighting direction and distribution designed for competitive-level environments

For nearly 70 years, Bangkok Patana School has provided exceptional opportunities for students in sports, the arts, and academics. These eight high-quality tennis courts are another source of pride, offering students, parents, and alumni the chance to engage in and benefit from a remarkable experience.
