Thailand’s International Education and Youth: Trends, Analysis, Dreams and Realities

Join us at this exclusive briefing with the BCCT Education Working Group and the British Council for expert insights into current trends in education in Thailand, and the launch of a major piece of research which explores how young people from across Thailand view their futures, their role in society, and the barriers they face in education, employment, entrepreneurship and civic participation. 

This first part of this session will provide new data and analysis around government education policy in the UK and Thailand, international schools in Thailand, the growing transnational education sector in Thailand, and student mobility from Thailand.

The second part of this event will see the launch of a major piece of research conducted by the British Council: Next Generation Thailand. Drawing on a nationwide survey of 2,000 young people and extensive qualitative research with youth, academia, civil society, media, government and international partners, the Next Generation Thailand research explores how young people view their futures, their role in society, and the barriers they face in education, employment, entrepreneurship and civic participation. 

The findings reveal a striking contradiction. Thai youth are optimistic, engaged and eager to contribute to their communities and country. Yet many feel excluded from decision-making processes and continue to face unequal access to opportunity.
