Overview:
The Digital Economy may be the single most important investment for a country. For Thailand it can fundamentally improve almost everything - most of which Thailand desperately needs to improve. It can revolutionize the way services are provided to its citizens, bring transparency, reduce corruption, fuel citizen empowerment, provide education to those in all walks of life, promote healthcare and well-being, dramatically cut costs, increase productivity, attract foreign companies, remove red-tape, promote innovation, foster culture and help with serious systemic issues like an ageing population.

However there are challenges in this journey too. Eric Shmidt, Executive Chairman of Google said “The internet is the first thing that humanity has built that humanity doesn’t understand, the largest experiment in anarchy we have ever had”. How does a country take advantage of the huge benefits that the Digital Economy can bring, and navigate the pitfalls?

In this regard, the Digital Economy is the most single most important project that Thailand is undertaking. It is the passion of His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Pridiyathorn Devakula who will be our speaker for the evening.

In order to bring this dream to reality there is a significant number of very important, difficult and serious issues that have to be tackled, some of which have been paralyzing Thailand for many years. The Deputy Prime Minister and members of his team have separated these challenges and opportunities towards building the Digital Economy in to 5 important areas:
-Soft Infrastructure
-Hard Infrastructure
-Service Infrastructure
-Promotion and Innovation
-Society and Knowledge
Whilst Thailand's plans for the Digital Economy may be considered overdue, an advantage of a late-comer in the digital world is the opportunity to take advantage of new developments and best practice which have happened around the world. In this respect countries can sometimes not just catch up, but leap-frog others.

In this important event, the Deputy Prime Minister will talk about the status of Digital Economy in Thailand and let us know how we can help Thailand in this project which is critical to Thailand’s future.
