PHUKET

2025 Overview:

2025 in Phuket there were a number of Joint Chambers events which I attended on behalf of BCCT including Austcham and EABC evenings these were generally well attended and BCCT was always mentioned as one of the Joint Chambers

I networked and had many conversations with people about joining the BCCT, this is a difficult sell in Phuket, as a standalone organisation we are not very visible and of course many attend the Austcham events so it is quite difficult to justify why they should be a member of BCCT.  

My view is that unless we have a strategic plan and budget to really get to people and explain why they should join the BCCT it will be difficult to gain more members here in the South, Austcham is so strong down here. However I will continue to talk to people and try to persuade them the many great reasons why joining the BCCT can help their businesses.

Plans in 2026:

In 2026 it will be more of the same and I want to focus on those people based in Phuket and the South who have or thinking of having offices in Bangkok and or just want to expand into Bangkok as then they get really great benefits of attending numerous great BCCT events and being part of a much bigger networking group of business people.

The warning is business in Phuket is falling off a cliff and was even before the war, hotels are seeing extremely low occupancies from May it looks like low season will be a blood bath on rates just to get occupancies up, this may not be the case with the iconic hotels necessarily but let’s see.

This downturn then affects most other businesses including property sales so I think 2026 for Phuket is going to be a very difficult year.
