Rajen Ramiah and Pavinee Bunyamissara from Chavalit & Associates Limited will explore recent developments in the Intellectual Property arena, focusing on trademark matters and on practical aspects of enforcement. We will also explain the effects of the Madrid Protocol in Thailand and the benefits of the same to local businesses.

Pavinee Bunyamissara is a leading expert in intellectual property (IP) law with over ten years’ professional experience and specialises particularly in the fields of e-commerce and trademarks. She has been with Chavalit & Associates Limited (CA) since its formation in 2005. She routinely advises major clients on matters relating to trademark registrations, copyright recordation, licence notices and agreements, as well as trademark and copyright infringement. Versatile and keen, she also assists with overseas trademark registration applications and acts as counsel, providing expert guidance to clients throughout IP litigation proceedings. She has been consistently consulted with on cases involving electronic trade and commerce, and domain name registrations.
Pavinee also has substantial in-house experience from her role as legal counsel at MWEB (Thailand) Co., Ltd., where she gained extensive hands-on experience within general law practice, IP and e-commerce related matters. She also gained a comprehensive knowledge of contracts and telecommunications working with government agencies while she was an in-house legal counsel at Iridium Southeast Asia.
Rajen Ramiah has more than 12 years of experience in the IP field with his areas of practice including registration of trademarks and general advisory work relating to the various forms of IP rights, including trademarks, copyright and industrial design rights. His experience also includes advising on and drafting agreements relating to intellectual property, such as licensing, transfer and assignment, joint ownership and distributorship agreements.
In addition to his work with law firms, Rajen Ramiah’s legal experience in the Middle East had a strong focus on contracts within the tourism industry. He was assigned to work for a high-profile destination management company under the Emirates Airlines group of companies.
