What is IoT (Internet of Things) and how is it being implemented to improve businesses in Thailand
The term “Internet of Things (IoT) is often used by Technology Companies, Educational Institutes and Governments, but what does it really mean? There are many products and applications currently in use to make our lives better, often given the term “smart” and include everyday items such as smart fridges, smart pet feeders etc. in smart homes to large scale programs in smart cities, smart logistics and smart roads to name a few.
It is estimated that over 40 billion devices will be connected to the internet by 2020 with more and more companies investing and making an impact in smart technology.
So what is IoT in layman’s terms? What benefits does it have for businesses and how is it being implemented here in Thailand?
The Department of International Trade at the British Embassy will have representatives from 13 companies that provide IoT solutions for business visiting Thailand. These representatives together with some local companies will be discussing how IoT is currently being implemented here in Thailand and what opportunities are available in the near future.
The panel will discuss current technologies and examples on where and how IoT is being implemented. The panel will be open to a Q and A session.

Panelists: The panel will be made up of 5 members from the 13 organisations visiting Thailand with The Department of International Trade at the British Embassy and representatives from Local companies implementing IoT technology in their business.
The panelist will be made up of from representatives from the following companies plus a representative from a local company to give examples of how some IoT technology is being used here in Thailand.
These companies are visiting Thailand to help businesses predict trends and prepare for the future using IoT within a range of business sectors including retail, banking. Logistics and Thailand’s huge tourism sector.
